Would your organization like to build internal training capacity
for effective communication with patients/families on the issue of childhood
overweight & obesity?
This
workshop will focus on tools and hands-on activities for brief patient centered
communications that result in a teaching framework for working with the “whole
person/family.”
We
are extremely pleased to have Keri Bolton Oetzel, PhD, MPH, LPC leading our
training. Keri is a licensed clinical
counselor who has worked with children, adolescents and families for 10
years. She is the Communication Trainer
at Envision New
Participants will be
expected to conduct at least one training session with their colleagues, parent
organization or others in the next year.
Participant
learning objectives include:

To
be familiar with at least three MI training activities
·
To
develop and lead an exercise in MI training
·
To
develop an outline for a PowerPoint Presentation of a training session
Who should attend?
Representatives
from primary care offices, health systems, community organizations, Healthy
Maine Partnerships, public health nursing, daycare, school-based health
centers, registered dieticians, care managers, among others are all encouraged
to attend. We suggest attending as training
team such as a community organization & clinical member might be helpful.
